This weekend has been a very long one. My husband and I decided to do a detox and it consisted of having only liquids for 2 days, nothing else, so that was Friday and Saturday for us. Maybe I’ll write about how to do it later on but we did it for a few different reasons.
One, we did it because of the fasting and abstinence during the Lent period. During Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, we are supposed to fast according to Christian tradition. And on those days and every Friday during Lent, we are not supposed to eat meats at all. So it seemed reasonable to do it during this period.
And two, we also did it because we felt like we needed to reset our bodies, much like a Spring cleaning. By cleaning our digestive system we can generally have a better health. We try to eat healthy most of the time, and we try to avoid processed and fast foods as much as we can, but it’s never perfect and so our bodies get contaminated as a side effect. This detox is supposed to help get rid of those toxins. We are also only eating fruits and vegetables for the next few days so that our bodies can ease back into our regular eating habits.
I like to think that we are honoring God and what He did for us. Many thousands of years ago, in a day like this, He came back to the living to show us God’s power and love for us. He did things no other man had ever done. He represented, and still does, everything good and great about this world. I can only to keep learning about his actions and try to be what He wants me to be in this world.
In John 11:25, “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection. I am life. Everyone who believes in me will have life, even if they die.”
